Waterfowl

Waterfowl are typically associated with species like duck, loons and geese. Also included here are wading birds such as herons and egrets. We will often catch great photos of herons and egrets either snatching fish out of the water or spearing them with their beaks to carry back to shore.

The large wading birds make for amazing photography practice due to their size, slow flight, and color variations. Great egrets in particular can be tricky to expose properly due to being bright white and require a good deal of practice with camera settings. Great Blue herons are great for practicing bird in flight, filling the frame, and positioning for the best lighting.
